KADS
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Looking back to February 1990 when the folks of Kingsteignton were entertained by a production of Little Red Riding Hood, in a pantomime put on by members of Kingsteignton Amateur Dramatic Society, more commonly known as KADS.
The five performances held at Teign School and directed by David Cross were each a sell out. Barbara Wilkins played the starring role of Little Red Riding Hood. Other Kingsteignton personalities such as the Reverend Eric Carless of the Kingsteignton URC (now The Kingsteignton Chapel) and the late Alan Saunders also featured along with Nigel Gillingham, Jean Cornall, Brian Sampson, Anita Stead, Tracey Dainton, Heidi Keep, Janice Hare and Steve Hogan to name but a few.
A great deal of work went into such productions such as making the scenery and costumes and the demise of KADS has left a gap in the life of the town. For some children it was a rare opportunity to take part in pantomime whilst for many others, who went to watch, it was their first experience of the art.
